A tribute to Martin Bell

Martin Bell
The Scotch Whisky Association pays tribute to Martin Bell, SWA Deputy Director of Trade, who has died following a brief illness

A statement from Mark Kent, Chief Executive of the Scotch Whisky Association, on the passing of SWA Deputy Director of Trade Martin Bell

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the SWA Deputy Director for Trade, Martin Bell, passed away on Friday 2 February following a brief illness.

Martin was a much loved and respected figure in the Scotch Whisky family, and particularly at the SWA, and he had a hugely positive influence across the Scottish business and global trade communities. Throughout his twenty years of service his knowledge, passion, humour and kindness was always on offer and he was embraced by all. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

As we grieve and come to terms with this sad news, we know we cannot encapsulate the impact Martin had on us all and the contribution he made to so much and so many. The thoughts of the SWA, and the whole Scotch Whisky family, are with Martin’s wife, his sons and wider family at this difficult time.
