CASE STUDIES IN GLASGOW
GLENTAUCHERS DISTILLERY
Glentauchers Distillery is in the Highlands, however they have been working with the University of Strathclyde on incorporating Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) technology and are now able to recycle close to 100% of the steam produced in the falling film condenser and have energy usage and carbon emissions. Chivas Brother’s aims to roll out this technology to all viable sites, including Glasgow’s Strathclyde Distillery, as part of its target to achieving carbon neutral distillation by the end of 2026.
CLYDESIDE DISTILLERY
Opened in 2017, the distillery has become an important tourist destination in Finnieston and holds regular tasting sessions. There is also a whisky and chocolate tour which promotes locally made chocolate from Sugarsnap in Glasgow.
COMMUNITY ALCOHOL PARTNERSHIPS IN GLASGOW
CAPs are partnerships between police, local authorities, schools, and retailers who work together to highlight the risks of underage drinking and improve the health and wellbeing of local children and young people. There are two CAPs in Glasgow - one covering Glasgow South, Glasgow Pollok, and Glasgow Southside, and one covering Rutherglen.
Glasgow Govan
A new Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) highlighting the risks of underage drinking to children and young people has been launched in Govan. The official launch took place on Wednesday 05 February 2025, at Asda in Govan.
Rutherglen
Today, (Thursday 15 February), sees the launch of a Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) in the Rutherglen area, to highlight the risks of underage drinking and improve the health and wellbeing of local young people. As part of the work in the community, local people are being asked for their views on crime and anti-social through a series of surveys which can be complete anonymously online.
