Westminster Engagement
As we represent a global industry, the SWA ensures that MPs and Ministers understand the Scotch Whisky industry’s global trade priorities and often travel with UK government delegations to key global markets.
Tax on Scotch Whisky in the UK is also controlled by the UK government. The SWA campaigns for fairer tax on Scotch Whisky in our home market.
All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Scotch Whisky aims to promote and facilitate communication and understanding between representatives from the Scotch Whisky and spirits industry and the UK Parliament at Westminster.

Join our campaign for fair tax for Scotch Whisky
Scotch Whisky is a home-grown success story. The Scotch Whisky industry might be an export-focused industry – we’re one of few products that can proudly say we export to more than 174 markets around the world. But the UK remains our 5th largest market, representing 73m bottles each year. Distillers large and small need confidence that their home market - for many the first market where their products are sold - supports them and supports their industry by ensuring they have breathing room to grow, invest, and export.
2024 United Kingdom General Election
We want all parties to champion our great exports like Scotch Whisky, ensuring it has the support it needs in the UK to deliver the growth and investment to see it flourish, deliver on its sustainability objectives, and play a leading role in promoting Scotland and the UK around the world.

So honoured to have been re-elected as Chair of the @ScotchWhiskySWA APPG 🥃 North East Fife is home to many distilleries, produces the largest volume of whisky UK-wide & @DiageoGB 's Leven packaging plant is the company's top manufacturer - so I'm very pleased to have this role! https://t.co/NPHZzKSw5h
